Wrapbook is thrilled to share that recently we were invited to speak to Aved Savoulian’s Production Accounting for Film & Television class, part of the Film Studies program, at UCLA.

To kick things off, Wrapbook’s Rick Rice and The List’s Emily Rice—no relation—gave a brief overview of what Wrapbook is—an Employer of Record (EOR), a production accounting and payroll software provider, and a next-gen tech company.

They then explained the services an EOR provides, such as payroll, workers’ comp insurance, financial tools, and business expertise.

Rick then gave additional background about the value of entertainment accounting software tools, as well as the need for them to evolve and integrate with other programs, which is what Wrapbook is doing through our all-in-one platform

He further demonstrated how Wrapbook is shaping the new possible of production payroll and accounting with our latest updates. Among our newest enhancements, our platform can combine tools from workers filling out digital start paperwork, provide an easy and intuitive way for cast and crew to create timecards, and even allow studio executives to run cross-project reports for the big-picture view of spending and approving purchases.

The goal with having all these tools in one place is that it eliminates the need to manually move data around disjointed systems and allows for better visibility into all activity across all projects. To emphasize these points, Rick presented the class with a demo of our platform.

And before the class wrapped up, Emily gave an overview of Room Tone, Wrapbook’s premier Slack community for production accounting professionals. As part of Room Tone’s benefits, members can also gain early access to The List, the most trusted production accounting job board started by Emily in 2005.

Wrapbook was the first in a series of guest speakers who presented to the class, and we are honored to have connected with and educated the next generation of production accountants!
