Production Accountant
Job description
Mindshow is seeking a detail-oriented Production Accountant to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong focus on managing the financial aspects of production, including budgets, cost tracking, and financial reporting. You will also play a key role in developing processes to better gather and analyze financial data for increased efficiency. Responsibilities include managing budgets, processing contracts and bids, and ensuring financial accuracy, all while maintaining clear communication with leadership and the production team.

In support of the VP of Production and the Senior Producer, you will help create and track production budgets, handle invoices, and ensure accurate financial reporting on non-union projects. The ideal candidate is hands-on, solution-oriented, and highly analytical, with the ability to manage both day-to-day accounting tasks and long-term financial goals.
This is a full-time position with standard office hours from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM PST. Flexibility may be required to meet production deadlines. This role offers opportunities for growth and exciting partnerships at the forefront of emerging animation technology and VR.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the VP of Production and Senior Producer to create, track, and manage production budgets
- Develop and maintain financial reports, including cost tracking and forecasting
- Track and report invoices, internal costs, and outgoing expenses
- Develop and implement processes to streamline the gathering and analysis of financial
data, improving overall reporting efficiency
- Address and report cost overages and any financial impacts due to production changes
- Manage and process Change Orders related to production finances
- Request, analyze, and negotiate bids and contracts from vendors, ensuring accurate
financial terms
- Ensure timely payments to vendors, contractors, and crew
- Maintain financial records and ensure compliance with company policies
- Approve vendor cost overages and manage contract financials
- Build and maintain positive financial relationships with clients and vendors Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in production accounting, entertainment, gaming, or a related industry
- Proven experience creating and managing production budgets, cost reports, and schedules
- Ability to manage multiple financial tasks simultaneously
- Strong communication skills (Slack, email, face-to-face)
- Commitment to accuracy, financial analysis, and process improvement
Desired Qualifications
- Background in Production Accounting
- Client management experience
- Familiarity with scripted productions
- Experience working with international vendors
- Experience in the animation and/or VR space
$75,000 - $95,000 / year
