AI: Harnessing Wrapbook's next-gen technology for the entertainment industry

Wrapbook’s payroll and accounting software is fully integrated and built from the ground up to meet the unique needs of production finance and accounting teams. This means we’re able to build solutions in new and innovative ways to solve industry-specific challenges.

This past February, we introduced our first AI-powered workflows to help streamline accounting workflows, reduce time spent on repetitive tasks, and get answers about your data quickly.

New AI-powered filtering tools in the General Ledger

For film and television projects using Wrapbook’s Production Accounting Suite, you can leverage AI within the General Ledger to get insights about your spend, fast, using simple everyday language:

• Type questions in plain English to instantly filter the report, then confirm or refine your filters to source exactly the information you need
• Ask questions such as “how much have we spent on insurance so far” or “what have we spent on ATL travel” without manually filtering or searching for those transactions
• AI only uses existing data in Wrapbook and neither stores data nor uses it to train third-party models

What’s next for AI at Wrapbook

We’re continuing to invest in our AI technology to help production finance and accounting teams reduce manual, repetitive workflows and increase their productivity. 

The next AI-powered workflow that we’ll be releasing involves automatically processing AP invoice details in Wrapbook. With automated invoice processing, all you need to do is upload your invoice, and AI will scan and automatically populate all the details, including the vendor’s invoice number, date, description of services, and due date.

• Cross-Entity Worker Payment: Pay workers flexibly across projects and production entities, eliminating administrative bottlenecks and enabling smoother financial workflows between different parts of your organization.
• Enhanced Reporting: New columns and filters for Production Entities (PE) and Organizational Units (OU) provide enhanced visibility into your production finances across your entire organizational structure.

With these improvements, studios and multi-entity production companies can finally mirror their real-world organizational structures within Wrapbook, streamlining approval processes and enhancing collaboration while maintaining proper security controls. For the first time, finance teams can work across organizational boundaries from a single platform without sacrificing visibility, security, or compliance.

This quarter, Wrapbook launched our ACA and Benefits solution designed to simplify compliance and benefits administration for production companies.

• New project creation workflow: Creating projects in Wrapbook is now more flexible and collaborative! You can save your progress section by section, collaborate with team members during setup, and easily manage project settings—including accounting—through the new Draft tab on the All Projects Dashboard.
• New project duplication: Speed up project creation by easily duplicating existing projects. Key project details, such as Workers' Comp, union settings, payroll, and accounting, are copied over, saving you time and reducing data entry for similar or recurring projects.
• SAG escrow support for all schedules: Now you can easily track SAG escrow requirements for workers earning under $65,000—managing balances, payments, and remaining funds in real time, even if they’re paid outside Wrapbook, with clear reporting ready for SAG.
• New PO settings: Purchase orders are now more flexible and tailored to your project’s needs, with updated settings that let you choose how PO numbers are generated, require departments on POs, and view key details like W-9 status and department—all from the purchase order page.
• New startwork smartfields: We’ve expanded our smart field library, giving you more flexibility to customize startwork documents with new fields for Position, Approver Name, Approver Title, Approver Signature Date, and Worker Pay Type.
• Updated Cost Report and Trial Balance Report: Redesigned production accounting reports deliver clearer insights with improved filtering options and export options.
• Bulk payables for workers: Quickly apply allowances or other payables to multiple dates at once within a single timecard for a worker, saving you time by automatically applying the same payments details across multiple days.
